A true Super Tuscan, Ampio is the estate’s most ambitious interpretation, born from old vines of Carménère, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. This rare wine, produced in limited quantities, combines power, complexity, and refinement. The bouquet is intense and refined, blending ripe black fruits, licorice, leather, oriental spices, and a touch of balsamic. The palate is full-bodied and structured, with remarkable density and deep persistence. The long aging in barrels brings balance, texture, and nobility. Ampio is a unique expression of the Maremma: wild, intense, and masterfully tamed.
Located in the heart of Maremma, on the southern coast of Tuscany, the Le Mortelle estate has belonged to the Antinori family since 1999. Nestled between gentle hills and views of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the estate covers over 270 hectares, approximately 170 of which are dedicated to vines. This land, long dedicated to traditional agriculture, has been passionately transformed into an exceptional vineyard, where international grape varieties meet the Tuscan spirit in a rich and bold dialogue.
The sandy and clay-limestone soils, the proximity to the sea, and the ideal exposure create a unique microclimate, particularly favorable to the development of grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carménère, and Petit Verdot. The winery, built partially underground, embodies the Antinori philosophy: a deep respect for nature combined with discreet but precise technological innovation.
