Presentation
The Branco de Telmo Rodríguez in Valdeorras perfectly embodies the winemaker’s commitment to indigenous grape varieties and high-altitude terroirs. Made from Godello, Galicia’s emblematic grape variety, this white wine comes from vines grown on granite slopes in the Sil Valley, in the Valdeorras appellation. Telmo Rodríguez, a key figure in the Spanish wine revival, produces a wine of great purity, respectful of its environment, with minimal interventionist vinification that highlights the unique character of this Atlantic terroir.
Tasting
To the eye, a pale yellow color with brilliant highlights. The nose reveals beautiful complexity, blending white flowers, juicy pear, fresh citrus, and mineral notes reminiscent of warm stone. On the palate, the wine seduces with its lively freshness, its ample texture and its precise balance between roundness and tension. The finish is long, saline, with a slight iodine touch that calls to mind seafood. A white with character, both accessible and elegant, perfect to accompany grilled fish, seafood or subtly perfumed Mediterranean cuisine.
The Telmo Rodríguez Estate is an emblematic project of the Spanish wine revival, founded by Telmo Rodríguez, a passionate oenologist and pioneer of the return to native grape varieties. Trained in Bordeaux and from a prominent Rioja family, he chose to travel across Spain to rediscover its forgotten terroirs. In Galicia, with its Viñedos de Galicia, Telmo reveals all the nobility of Godello, grown on the granite slopes of Valdeorras, as well as other ancient grape varieties. In this region with its Atlantic climate, it produces wines of mineral purity and remarkable freshness. Each vintage comes from high-altitude vines, worked by hand, according to principles that respect nature. The vinifications are precise, with little intervention, to allow the terroir to fully express itself. With his Viñedos de Galicia, Telmo Rodríguez is restoring the nobility of one of the finest vineyards in northwest Spain. This is a thorough, demanding project that brilliantly combines tradition and modernity.
