Paul Jaboulet Aîné’s Cornas “Les Grandes Terrasses” red is an exceptional cuvée from the northern Rhône Valley, produced on steep slopes overlooking the village of Cornas. The vines, planted on the hillside on decomposing granite soils called “gore,” benefit from a full southern exposure and are cultivated on terraces supported by traditional low walls. This pure Syrah reveals an intense nose of ripe black fruits, leather, licorice, and black pepper, with smoky touches characteristic of the terroir. On the palate, the wine is powerful and deep, with a strong structure, dense tannins, and a long finish with mineral and spicy accents. A cuvée with strong aging potential, “Les Grandes Terrasses” pairs perfectly with roast meats, game, or rich and flavorful dishes in sauce.
Founded in 1834 on the Hermitage hill in Tain-l’Hermitage, the Paul Jaboulet Aîné estate oversees an exceptional winemaking heritage, bringing together the most renowned terroirs of the northern Rhône Valley. Today, it oversees 105 hectares of vineyards, stretching from Cornas to Côte-Rôtie, in the heart of the most prestigious appellations of the northern Rhône Valley.
Thanks to precise vinification and meticulous work in the vineyards, the estate crafts tailor-made vintages that accurately express the richness and diversity of their terroirs of origin. Since 2016, all of its wines have been certified organic, demonstrating a strong commitment to quality and respect for the environment.
Paul Jaboulet Aîné thus embodies the quintessence of the great wines of the Rhône Valley, between tradition, high standards and excellence.
