The Villa Bel-Air Rouge 2021 stands out with a deep, brilliant garnet color, which paves the way for a wine of character.
On the nose, it combines intense fruit (ripe red fruits, cherry, blackberry), floral notes (violet), and elegant, well-integrated spicy and oaky notes—vanilla and subtle smoke.
On the palate, it seduces with its ample structure: present but silky tannins, generous body without heaviness, and sufficient freshness to balance the power.
The finish is long and expressive, with a lovely persistence of black fruit, spices, and well-integrated oak.
A Graves red that can be enjoyed now with pleasure, but whose aging promises to evolve beautifully.
Located in the heart of the Graves region, in Saint-Morillon, Château Villa Bel-Air is a historic estate whose origins date back to the 18th century.
This elegant property was abandoned for a long time before being completely restored by Jean-Michel Cazes (Château Lynch-Bages) in 1988. It was then taken over in 2017 by the Ballande family, who continue to maintain a demanding quality vision.
The vineyard covers approximately 44 hectares, with ideal exposure and deep gravel soils over a clay-limestone substrate, typical of the appellation, which ensure both excellent drainage and pleasant freshness.
The grape varieties are mainly Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Sémillon, each variety carefully cultivated to reflect the finesse and complexity of the terroir.
The red wine benefits from traditional vinification, long vatting (≈ 21-25 days) and aging for 12 to 15 months in barrels, including a significant proportion of new wood.
