The château, located on a former bastide in the Grands-Carmes d’Aix region, has belonged to the Rougier family since 1830. After replanting the vines ravaged by phylloxera, Jean Rougier obtained recognition of the Palette appellation in 1948, dedicated to the estate.
Unique Terror and Privileged Microclimate
The vines, spread across the northern slopes of Montaiguet, thrive on limestone, stony soils rich in gravel and clay. The influence of the Arc Valley, the surrounding forest, and a protected northern exposure create a cool and ventilated microclimate, ideal for slow and complex ripening. Respectful Viticulture and Century-Old Vines
The estate emphasizes traditional practices: vines cultivated without chemical fertilizers or herbicides, manual harvesting, vines that are often century-old or very old, and rigorous replacement of missing plants. Traditional Vinification
All wines (red, white, rosé) are fermented with indigenous yeasts, aged in small tuns and barrels, and blended without filtration to preserve their authenticity.
