Château Larrivet Haut-Brion’s red wine is distinguished by a bright, dark, and deep garnet color.
The nose opens with stewed black fruits—blackcurrant, blackberry—with hints of sweet spices, smoke, and well-integrated noble wood.
On the palate, the wine offers a full and rich texture: powerful yet well-integrated tannins, generous body, a balance between power and freshness, and the characteristic mineral trace of Graves is evident.
The finish is long, expressive, and elegant.
A promising wine for aging, but already capable of seducing after a few years in the cellar.
Château Larrivet Haut-Brion is a beautiful Pessac-Léognan estate, located in Léognan, on the Bordeaux hills near Haut-Bailly.
Acquired in 1987 by the Gervoson family, the estate has since established itself as an elegant, modern, and terroir-inspired wine.
The vineyard covers approximately 72 hectares, including ~61 hectares for the red wines and ~11.5 hectares for the white wines.
The soils are typical of the Graves region: sandy gravel, light clay, and limestone subsoil, ensuring perfect drainage and a beautiful mineral expression.
The red grape varieties are centered on Cabernet Sauvignon, supplemented by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, while the whites are based on Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon (and sometimes Sauvignon Gris) for the “dry white” vintages.
The estate combines tradition and innovation: careful viticultural practices, aging in new barrels or various containers, and recent projects (“Vignoble du Futur”) to adapt the vineyard to climate challenges.
