As the label already suggests, Camins del Priorat is a wine for lovers of beauty and pleasant aromas. It presents itself as the entry-level wine from Alvaro Palacios’ winery, but it boasts a character all its own. This wine comes from small vineyard plots—all located in the appellation’s five best municipalities—(Gratallops, Porrera, Torroja, La Vilella Alta and La Vilella Baixa, Bellmunt, El Molar, El Lloar, and Poboleda), at different altitudes and exposures, with vines of varying ages (between 10 and 40 years old).
Camins del Priorat is made primarily from native grape varieties (50% Grenache and 15% Cariñena), complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot.
The Palacios Remondo family (also known as Herencia Remondo) has a winemaking heritage dating back four generations. José Palacios Remondo was the most influential person in the development of the winery. A visionary, he sent his sons to study at the best French oenological schools, and instilled in them a great vocation. During this time, he worked to select the best Rioja vines, while respecting regional winemaking traditions. With 100 hectares at the foot of the Yerga mountains, the grapes grown are the result of rigorous selection. Mechanization is very low, allowing for great respect for the bunches during transfers. In 2000, Alvaro Palacios took over the estate, reinforcing the desire to create unique, high-quality wines. The estate has been recognized by top critics (Robert Parker, Wine Spectator) for years, and its wines enjoy worldwide success.
