The 2017 Finca Dofi red comes from 14 hectares of vines planted across three parajes (places) in Gratallops. This year’s blend is composed of 87% Grenache, 12% Carignan, and 1% white grapes (Grenache Blanc and Macabeu). It fermented in oak vats with indigenous yeasts and aged in large oak barrels (bocoyes and foudres) for 14 months. It is racy, elegant, and fresh, with very clean aromas and flavors that lack neither concentration nor power. This must be the finest and most elegant Dofi to date.
Nestled on the steep slopes of Gratallops, in the heart of Priorat, Finca Dofí is one of the emblematic crus of Álvaro Palacios, a major figure in the revival of great Spanish wines. Cultivated on terraces on llicorella (schist) soils, the vineyard produces a wine of remarkable depth, combining Mediterranean power with almost Burgundian finesse. A pure expression of the terroir, signed by one of Spain’s most visionary winemakers.
