This twenty-year-old Tawny Port reveals the quintessence of the Douro’s time and terroir. The nose, captivatingly complex, blends aromas of walnut, dried fig, coffee, and candied fruit. On the palate, the texture is silky smooth, perfectly balanced by a fine and luminous acidity. The extended aging in old barrels imparts nuances of caramel, honey, and delicate vanilla. Each sip illustrates Ramos Pinto’s mastery of time and patient expertise. The palate stretches out for a long time, supported by a persistent freshness and distinguished elegance. The wine exudes serenity and depth, evoking the old Gaia cellars bathed in shadow and silence. The infinite finish leaves an impression of noble sweetness and perfect balance. Served slightly chilled, it goes just as well with a nutty dessert as it does with a moment of pure meditation. Quinta do Bom Retiro 20 Years Old is an exceptional Tawny, combining intensity and timeless purity.
Founded in 1880 by Adriano Ramos Pinto, the eponymous winery has been a pillar of Port excellence for over a century. Located in the historic heart of Vila Nova de Gaia, it combines Douro tradition with an artistic and avant-garde vision. Its iconic vineyards—Quinta da Ervamoira and Quinta do Bom Retiro—spread across sun-drenched schist slopes, producing grapes of exceptional concentration and purity.
The winery’s philosophy is based on a balance between innovation and respect for the terroir: manual harvesting, varietal vinification, and meticulous aging in Gaia’s century-old cellars. Each Ramos Pinto Port expresses a unique, precise, and harmonious style, where natural sweetness combines with a rare structural elegance. From luminous whites to time-honored tawnys, from fiery rubies to majestic vintages, the wines all bear the Ramos Pinto signature: finesse, aromatic complexity, and crystalline length. The winery was also a pioneer in developing the Ervamoira terroir, the first quinta in the Douro to practice sustainable and integrated viticulture.
Today, Ramos Pinto embodies the soul of modern Port—a subtle blend of power, refinement, and authenticity—and remains one of the undisputed benchmarks in Portuguese winemaking.
