Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé, with notes of black fruits, liquorice and tobacco, with an elegant palate and a lingering finish.
Château Trottevieille, located east of Saint-Émilion, takes its name from a legend about an old lady who trotted to the coaching inn to hear the news. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, making it one of the oldest estates in the region. In 1867, its wines were awarded a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition, an early sign of its reputation for quality. The estate experienced a decisive turning point in 1947, when Marcel Borie, founder of the Borie-Manoux house, acquired it out of passion. The property then passed to his son-in-law Émile Castéja, and then to their son Philippe Castéja, ensuring strong family continuity. In 1955, Trottevieille was classified Premier Grand Cru Classé B in the first official classification of Saint-Émilion wines. Since then, this prestigious rank has been confirmed with each revision of the classification. The vineyard lies on an exceptional terroir of star-shaped limestone, which gives the wines elegance, complexity, and longevity. Today, the Castéja family continues their work by modernizing the facilities while respecting tradition. Château Trottevieille thus embodies the meeting of history, legend, and winemaking excellence of Saint-Émilion.
