This high-end single-plot cuvée comes from old vines rooted on clay-limestone hillsides. The wine reveals a beautiful aromatic concentration: black fruits, licorice, blond tobacco, and a very elegant, slightly woody touch. The palate is full-bodied and structured, yet still guided by a Loire freshness that lightens the overall effect. The tannins are silky, with a lingering finish. Decant in its youth or cellar for 5 to 7 years. Excellent with roast meats, duck breast, or stews. A serious, deep, and perfectly balanced Saint-Nicolas.
Domaine de la Cotelleraie is located in Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, on the banks of the Loire, on terroirs renowned for their freshness and finesse. Managed by Gérald Vallée, the estate has been organically farmed since 2009, with a respectful approach to the vine and all living things. The flagship grape variety, Cabernet Franc, expresses itself here with purity, between crisp fruit, freshness, and depth. Vinifications are gentle and precise, to preserve the natural delicacy of the grapes. Each vintage reflects a terroir and a style: from fruity and supple reds to more serious and structured expressions. The estate is today a rising star in Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, prized for its authentic and sincere wines.
